Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ingeborg Spicer, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday morning, May 31, 2012. She was born in Merchweiler, Germany to Jakob and Martha Meiser in 1926.
In 1955 she met Russell Spicer, an American soldier: It was love at first sight and they were married shortly thereafter. She was the epitome of an Army wife, following her husband to many duty stations until retiring at Fort Sam Houston in 1973. Shortly thereafter she was employed at Central Catholic High School and worked until 1991 when they both retired. She was a loving mother not only to her two sons but to hundreds of young men who passed through her doors at Central over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Hilda and Irma. Ingeborg is survived by her husband of 57 years of marriage, Russ Spicer; their sons Brian Dale Spicer and wife Joy; Steve L. Spicer and wife Donna; grandchildren: Jacob, James, Joseph, Kenny, Tiffany, Cortney, and J.D.; seven great-grandchildren: Haliee, Chey, Talia, Eva, Kiamoni, Codi, and Loki; nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends and neighbors. She was a devout Catholic and member of the Marianist Society and will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she ever touched. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
