Irene Ruiz Alcorta passed away due to complications related to COVID. She was 78 years old and a lifelong Texas native. Irene was immensely loved by her family and was the mother of 5 children. Despite her large family, Irene always had time for those she cared about. She taught her family what it means to rise and overcome any challenges that life had in store. While life is never easy, Irene set an example for her family to follow. Irene was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 1st, 1942. She lived her life through simple pleasure, chatting with friends and family. She loved watching the novella "Victoria" and eating popcorn and candy late at night with her next door neighbor, Oralia. Irene's joy was her children, grandchild, and great grandchild. Even those who just called her grandma, it didn't matter to her if you were blood related or not, she loved everyone with open arms. Irene was a life long Catholic.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, husband; Jose H. Alcorta Jr., daughter; Dorothy Alcorta, grandsons; Jason Andrew Alcorta and Simon Jay Garcia, and grand daughter; Ally Gutierrez. She will always be remembered by her 4 children, Joe (Laura) Alcorta and all the Arizona family, Tony (Angie) Alcorta, Elizabeth Alcorta-Ahmed, and Arturo (Jeanette) Trevino, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and countless others she called her family.
While the Alcorta family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Irene in a way that honors her spirit. Her children invite the community to join them in a Celebration of Life Ceremony.
