Today, we gather to celebrate the life of Our Matriarch Irene Cantu Guevara, a woman whose love shaped generations, whose strength carried our family through decades, and whose presence made the world feel steadier and warmer.
Some of our favorite memories are the simple ones, sitting beside her, listening to stories, listening to music, hearing her laughter, and feeling the comfort of just being near her. She had a way of making ordinary moments feel important. Her legacy is not just in the years she lived, but in the lives she touched. It lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Irene was a woman of God whose faith guided her life. She believed deeply in the power of prayer and faithfully prayed for her family every day. In times of joy and in times of hardship, she turned to God first, asking for protection, strength, and blessings over those she loved. Her prayers were one of the greatest gifts she gave — quiet acts of love that surrounded her family with faith, hope, and comfort.
Thank you for your sacrifices, your guidance, your warmth, your laughter, and your unwavering love. We will miss your voice, your wisdom, and your presence more than words can say. But we will honor you by living the way you taught us — with strength, grace, faith, and love for one another.
She is preceded in death by her loving father, Ignacio Cantu; her mother, Natividad Villarreal; her beloved son, Jacob Ray Guevara and her grandson Clyde Guevara, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Janie Cantu Guevara; her sons, Rodolfo C. Guevara Jr., Clyde Guevara, and Robert John Guevara; and her cherished grandchildren: Jo Ann Mugica, Michelle Dominguez-Sandoval, Crystal Ann Dominguez, Brian Edward Guevara, Brandy Lee Guevara, Rudy Guevara III, Yvonne Guevara, Gary Guevara, Celeste Guevara Gamboa, Ruby Guevara, Elizabeth Duquette, Jacqueline Nicole Guevara, Bonnie Marie Guevara, and Jacob Ray Guevara; and her beloved great-grandchildren, who were a continued source of pride and joy in her life.
Though we grief her absence, we are grateful for the time we were given with her. For every lesson, every embrace, every shared laugh, and every prayer she lifted on our behalf. As we continue to celebrate a life beautifully lived and deeply loved. Irene Cantu Guevara’s faith, love, and prayers will always guide her family for generations to come. May she now rest peacefully in the presence of the Lord she faithfully trusted all her life.
