

We mark the passing of a beautiful woman, Irene Steck Pector, who was called to God's eternal care. She was born in Montreal, Canada on September 15, 1917 and she departed this world on February 1, 2015. She had a wonderful life for 97 years. She was the third child of Louis and Molly Steck of Montreal, Canada and was the last surviving member of that family.
She is survived by her son, Maj. Brian Pector, USAF, (Ret.) and daughter-in-law, Rae Pector; grandchildren: Grant Pector and Michelle Pector Rice, and granddaughter-in-law Beatriz Pector, grandson-in-law, Deryl Rice; great grandchildren: Sydnee Pector, Sabrina Pector and Bryan Maxey; great grandnephew, William Lee.
She grew up in Montreal and attended school there. On a trip to New York in 1942, she met her now deceased husband, Harry Pector, who swept her off her feet in a wonderful romance. She was married 41 years to a devoted husband who now has her in his arms again. She lived most of her life in Troy, New York and was very active in her community. She was a Past President of Hadassah and a Past President of Brandeis University, Albany, NY Chapter. She was a member of Temple Beth-El in Troy, New York. Irene moved to San Antonio 11 years ago to be near her family when her health started failing. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. She had a wonderful caring way about her which made everyone who met her feel very comfortable and loved. She is now in God's care and his eternal home. Rest in Peace Irene, for you worked hard bringing beauty to this world.
