

Irene Cruz Teneyuca went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2002. She was born in San Antonio, TX on January 5, 1925, where she lived until her move to Corpus Christi, TX in 2001. She was a graduate of Fox Tech High School, was trained in topography and worked for the US Army. She also worked for the City of San Antonio at La Villita for 14 years and the Texas Department of Human Services. She later had her own bookkeeping and tax service and utilized her artistic talents to co-manage with her sister, The Marketplace, a gallery, antique and gift shop in Castroville, TX. She loved to draw, paint, play the piano, read, and visit with family and friends. A very loving, patient, kind and generous lady, Irene extended her care to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia Montez Cruz and Gonzalo Guerrero Cruz. She is survived by her brother, Richard Roy Cruz and sister-in-law, Margaret Balleza Cruz; sister, Elaine Cruz Teneyuca-Stevens and brother-in-law, William J. Stevens; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and many friends and extended family. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Meditation Garden Fund at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, TX. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Jeffrey Locke, Mark Alan Locke, Michael J. Brown, Michael Cruz, Paul R. Teneyuca, Ruben Cruz, Mike Brown, and Roy R. Soto, Sr.
