Irene Martinez Treviño

Tia Irene/Wella, as she was known to most of us, was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hermenegildo “Gio” Treviño in 2000; her brother, Humberto Martinez; half-brothers, Tomas Garza, and Pablo Garza; half-sister, Petra Bustillos; and her sons, Gerardo “Jerry” Treviño in 2009, and Mario Treviño in 2024.

Tia Irene/Wella was born in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on September 25th, 1928. She married Gio on July 2nd, 1951, and came to the United States in 1952. Both she and her husband later became United States citizens.

Tia Irene/Wella is survived by her sister, Maria Luisa “Licha” Cardenas in San Antonio; brother, Juan Manuel Garza in Los Ramones; sons, Sergio Treviño, and Gilbert Treviño; and her daughter, Irene Robles (Richard).

Tia Irene/Wella has 8 grandchildren: Trudy Stone (Sammy), Jerry Treviño (Victoria), Nina Earl (Joe), Jessica Treviño (Dustin Gutierrez), Jason Treviño (Natasha), Jared Segovia, Tammy Benson (Eric), and Alexis Robles. She also has 10 great grandchildren: Jerry Treviño, Elizabeth Earl, Alexander Earl, Christopher Earl, Benjamin Earl, Justin Baker, Chloe Baker, Ivan Treviño, Marley Benson, and Atticus Benson…and of course…Holland.

A Celebration of Life Mass in her honor will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church located at 709 Beryl, San Antonio, TX 78213 on Monday February 2nd at 12:00 pm. The family will receive visitors beginning at 11 am in the Parish Hall. A reception will follow the Celebration of Life Mass in the Parish Hall.
