1 / 1 There are so many memories I have with the beautiful and sweet Princess Izzy that it has been quite difficult to choose which one I want to write about. While I don’t have a specific favorite because ALL of them are my favorite, there are two stories in particular I feel blessed to have shared alongside Izzy.    The first story takes place during her first days down in the IMU. Izzy was on contact precautions at the time so for the first couple of days I got to see her we could only do our therapy sessions in her room.  However, earlier in the week we got permission to leave her room so we started taking her out on walks around the unit. On one of the days we took her out for a walk (I believe it was only her 2nd or 3rd time out of the room), her neighbor who also had a Bi-VAD like Izzy happened to be going on a walk around the unit as well. They ended up walking next to each other and held each other’s hands. I remember seeing the smile on both of their faces, especially Izzy. To see curious Izzy become so excited about being out of her room and making new friends was truly special. To look back on that day and know that Izzy went off to go on so many other strolls around her castle after that, creating many more memories with all of her family and friends, collectively makes something I will forever hold dearly close to my heart.    The second story takes place during a fun game of hide and seek up in the back hallways of C8. It was Izzy, Sean, Elizabeth PT and I playing during an afternoon physical therapy session. Izzy was having so much fun rushing to find all her hiding spots. She was running so fast (literally sprinting) we could barely keep up with her. During one game Izzy was hiding from Sean behind the plane elevators and when Sean found her, she screamed so loud from excitement and laughter that I would not be surprised if it woke up some little ones down the hall. Some of my favorite play dates with her took place in the hallways on C8. In which all of them I will never forget   These stories are just two of the many I will cherish forever. There are no words to express how much joy Izzy brought to my life. Izzy the brave showed me the true power of faith and love. I will miss all the picnics, ballerina/gymnastic practices, bike rides and so many of the other fun adventures I got to experience with Princess Izzy. I am looking forward to the day I get to see those big pretty eyes, beautiful smile, mouth and princess dress smothered in buffalo sauce (or some other type of sauce) again.    -Justin Villarojo, Rehab Tech

Dear Sean, Sammy and family..Izzy has such a special place in our hearts. Although we never met her in person her courage and sunny dispostion throughout her trails and stay in hospital were a true inspiration to me and our family. We loved the beautiful pictures that you shared with us and felt so united to you all in prayer celebrating Izzy's  little "health miracles" that kept her with you all for a couple of more years.  Thank you for sharing your journey with us. As a family you have been a witness of true faith and love  in action.  May Jesus continue to console you during this sad time and may his perfect peace and love be a constant support as you celebrate Izzy's life. God bless you all. Much love Gabriel and Marcia.

How unfathomable are God's ways!  Praise Him for His Infinite Love and Mercy, for His Great Goodness, His Mighty Plan - for all His creation! Our darling Isabel, formed perfectly to God's Will, without a left ventricle, was blessed by God to become our 7th grandchild and our Saint in Heaven! One of the most used adjectives concerning Izzy, was "amazing".  We know that the reason she was often called amazing, was that God revealed His power through her weakness and so often confounded traditional 'wisdom' bringing about a myriad of miracles through Izzy.   God tenderly reassured Sammy, as she discovered on the ultrasound, the day before Thanksgiving Day, 2016, that all would be well, there was no need to fear.  And so began our witness of the amazing little girl Izzy became!  We first met Izzy as she slept on Sammy's lap in the N.I.C.U., so tiny and being prepared for her first heart surgery. God sent wave upon wave of people into Izzy's life, to help her - each one left their indelible mark, for all their prayers, kindness, concern and hard work we will forever be grateful and ask God's blessing on them, so that, what blessed us - may bless the clergy, doctors and nurses and all the dear people who touched Izzy's life.  One of my favorite memories of Izzy is how she walked hand-in-hand down the long center aisle of The Basilica of The Little Flower, to the front of the Basilica where the holy relics of St. Therese are kept and she joined us, without any prompting, she knelt and with hands clasped, eyes closed, we saw her praying.   Izzy loved to kneel at prayer, we observed her doing so at home and at Mass. Another favorite memory is seeing Izzy stand up for herself, she was spunky and had a keen sense of fairness and her older siblings certainly knew she wasn't a 'push-over'! :)   Izzy, although the smallest in the family, initially, didn't want to miss out on fun.  She'd join the family, even when Sean had to carry her on his back as we went on a hike or an outing, Izzy was always very observant and fully on board with everything going on.  It was a joy for Isabel to welcome her two youngest siblings into the world and she loved holding and making fuss of 'her' babies.  Izzy was very motherly and it warmed our hearts hearing she wanted to become a chef and a mother when she grew up.  Lastly, a memory we will cherish forever is Izzy's JOY when she was surrounded by her big, boisterous, fun, noisy, highly entertaining family!  Izzy's eyes twinkled, she laughed - and the hospital walls melted away, all that remained was the ever caring, unconditional love of her Daddy, Mommy, Joey, Rosemary, Pauly, Alex, Felix, Leo, Tommy and Zoey. One day, while at the hospital, Izzy was taken outdoors.  We received a beautiful photograph of that memorable day - Izzy, stretched out on the lovely green grass, the sun shining brightly on her and with her eyes closed, an expression of tranquil joy, she enjoyed that moment.  We know Izzy is now at Home with God and relishing all Our Lord and Savior has been saving for her.  May we all live as little children, so that we can be reunited in Heaven with Izzy and one another, for all eternity.  The best is yet to come, Izzy knows this!  We love you darling Izzy, Opa and Oma xx
