

Isabel (Izzy, June-Bug, Bug, Junior) A. Servantez Jr., age 61 passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. Izzy was the youngest son of 8 children, born on April 15, 1960 in Temple, Texas to the late Hipolita (Pola) Servantez and Isabel Servantez Sr. (Chavelo, E-Z).
Izzy joined the Navy in 1982 where he honorably served his country 14 active and reserve years achieving the rank of Yeoman 1st class. He went to bootcamp in Orlando, Florida where he became friend with many of his shipmates. He stayed long friends with many shipmates throughout his Navy career. Henry Guerra, Dave Ronquillo, Fernando Almada, Paul Hayes, and so many more. He first duty station while on active duty was with CNET Chief of Naval Education and Training, Pensacola, Florida where he worked for the Admiral and Escorted the Ambassador of Spain for a week; second duty station was with VP9 at Moffett Field California with deployment to Adak, Alaska. His reserves active duty for training was done in the Philippines, Spain, Honduras, Seal Beach, California, and the USS Racine. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2059.
Following his active and reserve duties he continued serving the nation at the Naval Recruiting District in San Antonio before working at the Military Entrance Processing Center, where he retired in 2018.
Izzy was a member of Saint Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church where he taught catechism when his two sons were children.
Izzy valued life experience and education, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Texas at San Antonio 1998 and a Master of Education degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2010. Throughout his life he mentored and pushed others to pursue higher education.
Leading by example, Izzy inspired those around him to strive for their goals and dreams. From mentoring and tutoring at the San Antonio Juvenile Detention Center, and Good Samaritan Center, to coaching his childrens little league teams to "run until he was tired". Izzy never accepted "I cant" as an excuse. He always pushed the people around him to reach just a little bit further knowing that we were all capable of accomplishing more than we thought possible.
Izzy never knew a stranger. He was an easy-to-talk-to gentleman capable of striking up conversations with anyone he encountered, considering everyone a friend, if not family. A man of many words and genuine smiles behind them, Izzy lit up the rooms he walked into.
Even in death Izzy found a way to help others, being a successful donor of bone and tissue.
Izzy is held in the minds and hearts of his family, friends, and coworkers.
He was preceded in death by, his father Isabel Servantez Sr., mother Hipolita Servantez; sister Sandy A. Servantez; mother-in-law Carmen Corral; brothers-in-law Michael (Mike) Wilson and Clemente (Clem) Moreno, Dan Rickman; sisters-in-law Maria (Nellie) Rickman , Cecilia (Cecie) Corral, nephew Steve Rodgers, niece Linda Rodgers
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 year Socorro (Sukie) Servantez; two sons Isabel Alexander (Al) Servantez III and Jon Marcos (Marky) Servantez; and two beloved fur babies Pico de Gallo (Pico) and Leeloomina Lekatariba Lamina-Tcha Ekbat De Sebat (Lilu). Eight Godchildren; Riian DePoy, Benjamin (Ben) Rodgers, Cody Wilson, Danielle Villaca, Jaclyn Rodriguez, Josh Rodriguez, Jenna Rodriguez, Jared Rodriguez. Six sisters and brothers; Raquel (Rachel) DePoy, Oralia (Audrey) Wilson,2020 Victoria (Vicky) Osterholt (Randy), Fidel (Phil) DeArri (Barbra), Alexander (Alex) Servantez (Maria), Bernadette (Betty) Moreno. 22 Nieces and nephews: David Depoy, Allison (Jill) Hernandez (Roland), Daniel Depoy, Paula Stout (Jim), Karen Shelton (Michael), Joseph Wilson (Erin), Rosalinda Dickerson (Chris), Carlos Vargas (Denise), Joshua Meyer (Miranda), Robert Risen (Maree), Brenda Roman, Oscar Roman, Adam Roman, Veroniqe Moreno, Sebastian Bishoff, William (Bill) Burnside, Patricia (Tricia) Sharp, Nadine Mendoza, Joe Rickman (Falon), Jason Viker (Kelsie), JoLynn Perry, Cassandra (Cassie) Sharp, and all of his beloved great nephews, nieces, friends, and co-workers.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
