Jack Edward McCracken, age 92, passed away on July 1, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Jack was born in Kent, Ohio, to Madelin and Russell “Earl” McCracken on March 10, 1933.

Jack served in the United States Army for eighteen years and received an Honorable Discharge on January 19, 1971. Jack flew the powerful Huey Medical Evacuation Helicopter in Vietnam. During his tenure in the Army, Jack was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Soldier’s Medal, Good Conduct Medal (Fourth Award), two Overseas Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60 – Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Cluster and the Combat Medical Badge (Second Award).

Jack worked in several business industries following his military career. The most fulfilling was consulting with physicians and surgeons and being in the operating theater during “ENT” (Ear, Nose and Throat) surgical procedures.

Jack enjoyed spending time with family and a great home-cooked meal. He also enjoyed relaxing days of fishing at the Paradise Point Fishing Camp located and Tow, Texas, watching his favorite football team, The Dallas Cowboys and his favorite basketball team, The San Antonio Spurs, and his favorite baseball team, The Houston Astros. Jack was the ultimate fan!!

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Madelin and Russell “Earl” McCracken and his grandmother, who he lovingly referred to as “Grams”.

Jack is survived by his wife, Norene M. McCracken, of forty-six years, Sisters-in-Law, Norvella Loveland, Noretta Askew and her husband David Askew, and Brother-in-Law Norris Tapp. In addition, Jack leaves behind his son Jack (McCracken) Eckroad and wife Dawn; and his daughter Jeannie Marsh. Jack also leaves behind his sister, Megan Alleman and her husband Michael Alleman and family. He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Jack, my “Big Guy” you will be FOREVER LOVED, CHERISHED AND MISSED!!
