Jacqueline Gates Buckley, age 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 8 after a brief illness, joining her loving husband who went before her. Born in Chicago, Jacki moved to San Antonio with her parents and two brothers when she was 12 years old. She graduated from St. Mary's Hall and attended Stephens College in Missouri. A quiet and beloved source of support to many, Jacki's life was active and independent up until the time of her death. She had a strong but joyful sense of obligation to give of her time in service. A member of Christ Episcopal Church for over 70 years, she was dedicated to the Altar Guild for decades. Also for decades, she welcomed, comforted, and assisted parents and family in the surgical waiting room at the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. She celebrated annually with the city she loved through the Battle of Flowers Association, presiding over the Band Festival for two years. Nothing made her happier than her Tuesday excursions to the greens. She belonged to the Brackenridge Women's Golf Association and was still playing in her 85th year. She traveled often with and to see her family in Dallas and delighted in her four great granddaughters. Jacki is survived by her son Charles A Chip Wright and his wife Madeleine, her grandsons Robert Wright, David Wright, and Graham Irvine and his wife Jennifer, her granddaughter Kristen Pierson and her husband Jamie, her niece Jacque Gates and her husband Jim McCracken, and her nephew Charles M. Gates and his wife Patricia Tebbs-Gates.
