Dr. Jacquelyn Alexander, 82, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, August 16th at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home in San Antonio, TX.
Born March 3rd, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jack and Lois Alexander, Jacquelyn was the eldest of four children. The family later moved to Lubbock, Texas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Steve Smith, her parents, and brother Charlie. She is survived by sons Richard and Charles, stepchildren Brad and Shawna, brother Jack and sister Janice, and her cherished grandchildren.
Dr. Alexander dedicated her life to higher education, earning her PhD from the University of Texas, Austin in 1981. At Our Lady of the Lake University, she served as Professor, Dean of Education and Clinical Studies, Founder of the Department of Leadership Studies, and VP for Academic Affairs before retiring in 2013.
Quick-witted and intelligent, Jacquelyn enjoyed community theater, earning performance awards. She loved gardening, hosting friends, and above all, her family.
