

James H. Cosgrove, age 96, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 4, 2014. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 23, 1917 to James A. and Clara S. Cosgrove. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lucille Albers. He is survived by: his wife of 69 years, Wanda G. Cosgrove; his daughter, Sharon Speer; his son, James G. Cosgrove and wife, Peggy; his son, Michael S. Cosgrove and wife, Sally; 5 grandchildren: Sarah and fianc Paul Sonnier; Madeline and husband, Tate Turnipseed; Samuel, Carol Anne, and Hannah; and great-grandson, Jackson Wunderlich; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Cosgrove graduated from Brackenridge High School and soon began working for the City of San Antonio at Stinson Municipal Airport. In 1941, he started working for the FAA as an air traffic controller in Corpus Christi, then, later, in San Antonio at SA International Airport and Stinson Municipal Airport. He retired in 1971 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children, working as a volunteer with the Bulverde Fire Department, and was a founding member of the Bulverde United Methodist Church. A private burial will precede the memorial service.
