Kate, we are so sorry for your loss. Skip will definately be missed. I always had a sense of peace knowing my mom had Skip as her neighbor. He was always so helpful. We pray that you find comfort during this difficult time.

Kate and Family: I met Skip through the VFW. I must say he was one of the few that never had a bad word to say about anybody. He had a very gentle way about him. As he would leave the VFW, he would say 'Ok I'm going to leave you in charge'! Of course that would bring a smile to my face and others that would hear his parting words that were meant to be funny! A fine person, and so proud of his family ahead of all his other favorite people. In short, Skip was a happy man and pleasant to be around! I consider myself lucky to have known him. God Bless all of you. Kate I wish you all strength and comfort during this very tough time in your lives.

I would like to extend my sympathy to the family of Skip Leigh. He was always good to me from the first day I started at Wabash until he retired in 2007. It was great to see him when he would stop by and visit with us at Wabash. I will truly miss him and my prayers are with you.

To "Skip" and his beloved family, I as my children will always remember his heart warming smile at VFW breakfast. Always craking jokes with Jesse and Art. From the moment you held us in your big hands, we were in your heart fovever and you in ours. You took the best care of us - spoiling us and trying to keep us in line. You helped us walk and changed many diapers! We loved "helping" in your workshop, snuggling with you in your recliner, running all around the front and back yards, and sitting in your lap at the "compooter". You were the best even when we were spinning you while you sat in your rolly chair and caught us every time we threw ourselves from the bed into your lap. We'll have to get Momma to take us through the drive thru for lollipops and funyons, though, and will miss our truck rides. We have many reminders of how much you loved us and will cherish these forever.

When you left my house on Thanksgiving Day, I stood on my tippy toes and kissed you. I told you I loved you and thanked you for helping me that day. I meant to say that I was always very proud of you. I am proud that you were my dad. You often said how proud you were of me and Melissa. I am proud of you because you were a hard working, honest, kind and thoughtful person. You treated others like God asks us to. You helped the less fortunate and those in need. You never judged or thought yourself better than others. You never boasted or bragged. You helped other people, but you never told anyone you did this. I am so happy to hear that you had told others that you knew you were going to Heaven. You were at peace with yourself and your faith. I wish God could have loaned you to us a little longer, but I am glad you didn't suffer and don't have to live in a way you would have hated. I love you. Until we meet again....

Thanks for everything, Skip. I can't put nearly fifty years of memories in a few words, so I'll just say you made my family better when you became part of it.

I'd like to Thank God for giving Mr. Leigh two wonderful daughters. Both Cathy & Melissa are strong, independent, and amazing story tellers. I feel so blessed to have Cathy as my dear friend. And I know Cathy & Melissa are kind and loving because of how they were raised with the love of their father. Mr. Leigh you will live on in the hearts of your daughters.
