He was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After marriage and graduation from Oklahoma State with a BS degree, he spent 20 years in the Air Force, retiring in 1975 to travel and play golf. He moved to San Antonio in 1998 with his wife Sue, where he was a member of the Northside Lions.
In addition to his widow, Jim is survived by three sons: Daniel James Lewis of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Michael Arthur Lewis of Arlington and Plano, Texas and LD Lewis of Fayetteville, Arkansas; also one sister, Mrs. David Coryell of Eldorado, Kansas and two grandchildren, Austin and Jacob Lewis of Deerfield Beach, Florida.
