

James Austin Walker age 83, passed peacefully away on Thursday, November 1, 2012. Jim was born in Arkansas on September 21, 1929 and grew up in southeast Missouri. After high school he proudly served as a Sergeant First Class in the Army during the Korean War. When he returned from Korea, he married Lawanda and began his career at Western Electric in St. Louis, Missouri. While there he made many life-long friends. He retired after 35 years.
Jim was a good golfer and loved to play. Nothing brought him more joy than the good natured banter among his regular golfing buddies. He and his wife Wanda moved to San Antonio in 2005 to be near family. Jim and Wanda have been married for 59 years. They have three children; Sheri and her husband Ron Bartnett, Randy and his wife Hyunjoo Walker and Jacquie and her husband Alex Lyon. He is the proud grandfather of Michael and Neil Bartnett. Jim was preceded in death by his three sisters and their parents. He is "Uncle Bill" to many nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by family and many friends. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society. There will be an open house at Ron & Sheri's house at 15631 Dawn Crest on Sunday, November 4, from 1pm to 3pm. Please feel free to come by and visit with the family.
