

As a child he starred as the featured rodeo performer. As a teen he worked on the construction of the Ft. Worth airport. Later he worked in a jewelry store as a repairman.
In 1950 he was drafted in the Army serving in South Korea where he was permitted to hunt deer to feed the Korean people. That same year he married La Vada Ferguson, three children were born to them, Michael, the son and Cathy and Cynthia, both deceased, and two grandchildren, Catherine Weber and Justin Weber, deceased.
In 1980 Jim married Adelaide and became the loving step-father to Karen Prewitt and husband Rick, Elizabeth Whitlock and husband Jesse, and three step-grandchildren, Matthew Jensen, Virginia Skinner, and Christina Walters, and great grandson Conner Michael Jensen.
Jim worked 35 years as salesman for Swift and Company covering many central west Texas businesses and made many lasting friends. Jim served as an Elder in the Big Spring Texas Lutheran church, as a Boy Scout Troop Leader in Austin, Texas where he enjoyed camping with his Scout troops in Colorado.
Jim was a lover of hunting, trout fishing, scuba diving, boating, exploring and climbing mountains. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Elmer Junior and survived by sister, Geraldine Young of Statesville, N. C.
