

He was preceded in death by his parents, John James and Caroline McCallon Wilson; and his sisters, Minibell, Marie, and Crystelle.
His survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alixe L.; daughter, Karen and husband Jim Kahrl; son, James L. and wife Nancy; daughter, Pamela Wilson; grandchildren, Chrissy Brody, Fritz Kahrl, and Catherine Wilson; as well as 9 nieces and nephews.
Jim Woody had a BA from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1935, a BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin in 1939 and an MS in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1941.
He was an instructor at Texas A&M University 1941-1942, on active duty in the Navy 1942-1946, an instructor of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University 1946-1949.
From 1949-1976, he was Professor of Chemical Engineering and Math at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, retiring as a Professor Emeritus. From 1977-1983, he was a part-time math instructor at SAC. He retired as Commander from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1969.
While in California he was on the Del Rey Oaks city council 1953-1974, and mayor 1958-1966. In San Antonio he was active in the NSAH Lions Club from 1980 and enjoyed a good game of bridge with friends.
