

He was born on February 9, 1931 here in San Antonio, Texas to Reeves Earl Witten and Mabel Mahavier Witten. Jim Attended schools also in San Antonio and graduated from Central Catholic High School, class of '49. After graduating from the University of Texas he went on active duty in Germany. He fulfilled his National Guard obligation and then finished out in the Army Reserves.
Jim worked for the Consumer Credit Commissioner of Texas as an examiner for nearly 30 years. Jim also found his calling after retirement at First Presbyterian Church with a true spirit for serving. He enjoyed serving as KEYS treasurer for many years, Men's Thursday morning Bible Study Group, ushering, Wednesday night classes, and delivering homemade bread to new comers and working with Habitat for Humanity.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Charlotte (Char-An) Pautsch Witten; his son, Reeves Eric and daughter Melani Erica and son-in-law, Patrick Cobb and six grandchildren, Justin, Cody and Tyler Witten plus Soren Addison and Carson Cobb. His sister-in-law, Dolores Witten and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenneth Earl Witten and Lucille Holman.
