She was born in Syracuse, NY on October 2, 1921 to Susie Scruggs and Theodore Moreno Lucas of Memphis, TN. Jane resided in Ridgewood, NJ during her school years and graduated from Stephens College in Missouri.
She was employed in New York City and subsequently, joined The Women's Army Corps in early 1944. In 1946, she met her future husband in China and married Bert Gray in October 1947 in Memphis, TN. She spent the next 25 years as an Air Force wife, moving frequently with their two children and enjoying 3 years in Bad Godesberg, Germany and three years in New Delhi, India.
On her husband's retirement, they elected to remain in Fairfax, VA for 18 years and then relocated to Air Force Village II in San Antonio, TX.
She was a warm, witty and wonderful wife and mother ~ she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Jane is survived by a daughter, Kate Cameron Gray Siebert and son-in-law, Neal Frederick Siebert; and son, Martin Hamilton Gray.
Following her wishes, Jane will be cremated and will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia with her beloved husband, Bert.
