
She delighted in the fact that she was a few minutes older than her twin brother, John. She was the daughter of Eleanor Fresk Christie and John Franklin Christie.
Chris graduated from Shakopee High School and then from Abbott Hospital Nursing School in Minneapolis as a Registered Nurse. She worked with Polio patients as she had polio as a child. She volunteered with the Air Force in treating needy patients in Central America.
She was united in marriage with Robert Frederick Wilke on October 4, 1952 in Houston, Texas. They lived in Ohio, Texas and Louisiana.
Bob was a career Air Force pilot who flew U2's and a Colonel, when he was reported missing in action on January 17, 1968. Chris worked with the groups that helped to recover men missing in action in Viet Nam.
Chris lived in San Antonio over forty years. She enjoyed reading, bridge, traveling, crossword puzzles and San Antonio Sports teams.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Edith Weiland, Margaret Boonstra and brother, John Christie.
She is survived by nieces: Susan Ambrose, Karen Christie, Susan Wilke and Mary Wilke; her nephews: John Christie, Richard Weiland and Robert Wilke. Chris is also survived by her dear friends in the Gorden "Swede" Larson family of San Antonio.
Services will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
