

She will be reunited in heaven with her husband of 65 years, Jesse N. Martinez; her sister, Monica Lopez; brother-in-law, Gilbert Garcia; nephews, Carlos Garcia, Chris Garcia; and sister-in-law, Estella Rodriguez; as well as other beloved relatives. She is survived by her children, Grace Perez (Robert), Jesse Martinez, Jr. (Julie), Roland Martinez (Rosalie) and San Juanita Flores (Lorenzo); siblings, Celestino Rodriguez, Irene Mendez and Mary Garcia; grandchildren, Tara, Samantha, David, Erika, Dana, Deborah (Sean) and Aiden; great-grandchildren, Alexus, Ryan, Aricelli, Sebastian, Robert, Aiden, Zoe; and numerous extended family members.
Janie dedicated her life to the Lord and her family. She attended Fox Tech High School where she was a proud member of the Red Jackets. She was a professional seamstress, with well-known clients. She was an avid reader, loved cooking and making her family various specialty dishes. She loved shopping, going to garage sales, thrifting and watching movies with her family. She had fun watching sports with her sons, Spurs games, and loved David Robinson and Tim Duncan.
She enjoyed traveling and was privileged to visit the Holy Land twice, having renewed her vows with her husband during one of those trips. Her international and domestic travels included France, Germany, Israel, London, Alabama, California, Chicago, Hawaii, Washington, and many trips to Mexico. A few of her favorite activities were attending church, religious retreats, seminars, and fellowship.
Her legacy will be her love of God, her faith, and her family. Her presence in our lives and the lives of many will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to time 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
