

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Janie D. Wilson, who entered into Heaven on April 2, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born in Matamoros, Mexico, on May 16, 1955, Janie lived a life full of love, devotion, and service to her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Wilson, and her cherished sister, Mercedes Villanueva.
Janie leaves behind a loving family who will forever miss her presence. She is survived by her children, Kimberley (Miguel) Nanez, Michael Wilson, and Marc (Paty) Wilson. Janie’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Lola Nanez, Jovonne Wilson, Savanna Wilson, Sophia Wilson, Sabrina Wilson, Arabelle Wilson, Zaric Wilson, and Yulyla Wilson, along with a soon-to-be grandchild, Baby Boy Wilson. Additionally, Janie is survived by her nieces, Laura Saldana and Ana Villanueva-De Leon.
Janie graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and went on to have a meaningful career. Lovingly known as Jane to her associates, she worked as the office manager at Braverman-Terry-Oei Eye Associates from 1994 until her retirement in June 2024. She was a dedicated military spouse who supported her husband, Joe, and their family as they traveled and navigated life together.
Janie was a woman of deep faith and a proud member of the Bible study group at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, where she had attended since 1993. She was an avid reader, always eager to learn and grow in her faith. When not reading, Janie enjoyed watching her favorite show, Law and Order SVU, and finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Her family and friends will always remember Janie as a devoted and doting grandmother who treasured every moment with her grandchildren. She was generous, helpful, and never hesitated to offer her honest advice. While she was independent and opinionated, her unwavering support for her loved ones was evident in everything she did.
Janie’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were touched by her kindness, honesty, and love.
Rest in peace, Janie. You will be forever missed.
Sunset North Funeral Home will be receiving guests for Janie on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM with a celebration of life at 11:00 AM, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232. Janie will be laid to rest at a later date with her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
