Jason Jeremy Thompson Stephen was born November 30, 1976 in Springdale, Arkansas to Nancy Marie Nordgren and John Emmett Clough. Jason was in a tragic accident on Friday, September 13, 2019, he fought hard for his life until his body was unable to take the strain of the injuries, and passed peacefully surrounded by family, many friends, and loved ones on September 20, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas.
Jason grew up in Bulverde, Texas with his mom and his adoptive dad, Thurston Matthew Thompson. Jason was skilled at many things and had many hobbies to occupy his time. He loved playing soccer, skiing, playing music, riding motorcycles, rock climbing, or anything that would give him an adrenaline rush while scaring the crap out of the rest of us.
Jason loved fiercely, which is why he was able to have so many lifelong friends. He may have been known as a tough guy, but he was really a giant teddy bear, with the biggest heart. Jason will be remembered by his friends and family for his athletic ability, creativity, loyalty, sense of humor, sensitivity, his giving heart, his ability to make friends, his adventurous nature, and his ability to tell stories, among many other things. Every person who met Jason says he left a huge impact on their life, even if they met for only a few minutes.
Jason's greatest accomplishment was becoming a father. Jason worked hard to overcome many challenges for the love of his only daughter, Alexis. No matter the situation, Jason was always quick to mention her latest accomplishment and how proud he was of her and how proud he was to be her dad.
Jason is preceded in death by his younger sister Ariel Marie Thompson, his mother Nancy Marie Nordgren Joas, and his maternal grandparents Marvin James and Juanita Marie Nordgren.
Jason is survived by his daughter Alexis Leigh Stephen, two sisters, Orion Starlene Shaw (Michael Shaw) of Beebe, Arkansas, and Shelby Lea Thompson of San Francisco, California, his nieces, Dresden Starlene Shaw and Brielle Ashlyn Shaw, and his nephew Jordon Nathaniel Shaw, his dad, Thurston Matthew Thompson of Glen Haven, Colorado, and his birth father John Emmett Clough of Lonoke, Arkansas, former wife and co-parent, Shannon Leigh Stephen of, San Antonio, Texas, and her parents, Mitch and Tommi Stephen of Canyon Lake, Texas, his high school sweetheart and lifelong friend, Dani Hersrud, of Sturgis, South Dakota, and too many friends who are more like family than we can list. Jason was a loving father, brother, son, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.
We will celebrate Jason’s life on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, 1701 Austin Hwy San Antonio, Texas. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with the Funeral Service to Follow at 11:00 a.m.
