Javier "Alo" Garza passed through the veil to be with Christ on January 29th, 2024 at the age of 74. Javier was born on March 12th, 1949 in Laredo, Tx to his loving parents, Irene Martinez Garza and Jesus Garza. He was the sixth of eight children.
Javier spent his first 6 years of life in Laredo, Tx until he and his family moved to Los Angeles, Ca for better work opportunities. Javier would often think fondly of his time in L.A. Later, the family moved back to Texas where they would call San Antonio home. Javier graduated from Harlandale High School in 1969. After high school , Javier worked for Stanley Structures where he would meet his future wife, Mary Therese Bloomingdale. Javier also served as a convention show foreman while working for the Teamsters before venturing off to start his own business in AC repair.
When he wasn't working hard, Javier used to love playing basketball in the backyard of the family house or hustling people at pool. Always a fan of music, he loved the Beatles, the Monkees, CCR, all the oldies, country music and Tejano. Later on in life you could always find him sitting in the kitchen, listening to the radio at full blast reminiscing about his life.
Javier loved his family most of all. His fondest times were when his brothers and sister would get together around the kitchen table with his parents. He loved to talk, joke and argue. He showed his affection by cracking jokes many times at your expense, but always there was love. He loved to spend time with his son Jacob, hunting, taking him to highschool basketball games or watching wrestling together.
Javier loved his pets. He bonded with them so deeply. Some of his favorites include Oso, Jackie, Tommy, Edmond, Belle, Hercy & the Brain, Willie Jr, Lambchop and especially Ciro, his companion for many years.
Javier is now reunited with his parents, Irene and Jesus Garza, sister Bertha Garza, brothers Jesus Humberto Garza, Joel Americo Garza, Jorge Arturo Garza, and Jesus Alberto Garza as well as the pets he cared so deeply for.
Javier's memory will forever live on through his son, Javier Jacob Garza, ex-wife Mary Therese Garza, siblings Blanca Alma Trevino (George), Juan Angel Garza (Sylvia), two grand dogs, Harley and Dusty Quinn Garza and through numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The Garza family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the staff of Fresenius Dialysis Facility, the St Benedict's staff and the care providers who were his lifeline, Nancy Noriega, Lesby and Martha Bolden. Your job is an expression of love and there is such a thing as living saints.
