Jeanette “Jan” Russell went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Her parents Clifford and Margaret Whitcomb welcomed Jan into this world on September 4, 1948 in the city of Detroit, Michigan where her father, Clifford Whitcomb, was a Detroit Police Officer. Fifteen months later they would have another child, her younger brother, Michael Whitcomb. They moved to San Antonio, Texas where she attended Robert E. Lee High School, graduating in 1966. Jan worked at Fort Sam Houston as a Procurement Agent for many years. She met her husband James “Jim” Russell in 1978 and they married in 1980. After marriage, Jan became a full-time housewife and worked various part-time positions with friends and neighbors. Ultimately, she wanted nothing more than to be with her husband and after his retirement they began their time together going into their glory years! Jan enjoyed sitting in her backyard with Jim and tending to their dog, Bella. She would spend hours at a time putting together jigsaw puzzles. She would buy new puzzles frequently and have them spread out on her dining room table. Jan enjoyed having her adult children and grandchildren over for visits and spending time together during the holidays. She was always one to smile and laugh when they had time together.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her husband of 40 years, Jim; her brother, Michael and his wife Kaye; her three sons, Matt, Eric and his wife Jennifer, and Sean; and her four grandchildren, Taylor, Brendan, Aiden and Cameron.
At her request, there will not be a memorial service.
