

Jefferson B. J.B. Fooshee, age 87, of San Antonio, died Thursday, November 18, 2010.
He served in World War II and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He had a successful career as a home builder and land developer in Abilene, TX where he contributed greatly to the community.
J.B. served as Refugee Resettlement Director for the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas. He initiated and developed a food distribution program for Honduras.
He was founding President of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Abilene, one of the founders of the Serenity House, President of the YMCA in Abilene, President of the Abilene Exchange Club and President of the Abilene Home Builders Association. He served on the Abilene Planning and Zoning Commission, the Abilene Industrial Foundation and the Salvation Army Board. J.B. also received the Golden Deeds Award, Mental Health Award, Rotary Paul Harris Award, and Abilene Social Workers Award.
J.B. was active in the "Faith Alive" Renewal Movement, where he was a visiting team member in over 60 cities. He also went to Russia in 1993 on a church planting mission. He and the family spent several summers serving on Navajo Reservations and Mexico missions.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Fooshee; and his brother, S.J. Fooshee, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Fooshee; children, Lois Brabec and husband, Z of Geneva, Switzerland, Beth Eubank and husband, Mark of Kerrville, TX, and Sallie Newman and husband, John of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Tucker Brabec, Philip Brabec, Ben Eubank, Emily Eubank, Elizabeth Eubank, Jack Newman, and Julia Newman; sister, Anna Margaret Alexander of New Braunfels, TX; brother, Dale Fooshee of Abilene, TX.
He was an ardent fly fisherman, turkey hunter and beachcomber. The joy of the Lord was his strength.
