August 19, 1982 – May 5, 2025
Jeffrey Bernard Wilkins was born on August 19, 1982, in Washington, D.C., to Henry Lee Wilkins and Betty Jo Wilkins. He was raised in Washington, where he cultivated a deep faith, strong values, and lifelong connections with family and community.
At the age of eleven, Jeffrey accepted Christ under the leadership of Dr. William B. Stroman and Rev. Orlando Richmond at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. He was a devoted member, serving faithfully as a youth fellowship leader, junior deacon, and usher—roles that reflected his generous spirit and love for service.
Jeffrey attended Burrville Elementary School, Roper Middle School, and graduated from H.D. Woodson High School in 2000. A proud native of D.C., he had a great love for “Go-Go” music and found inspiration in the gospel group Canton Spirituals, especially their song “I’m on My Way Home.”
Following graduation, Jeffrey enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. It was during his military service that he met and married the love of his life, Amanda. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising four children: Bryena, Aniyha, Malachi, and Honesti. He was also a proud grandfather to Iyanna and Adrian.
Jeffrey is survived by his beloved wife, Amanda Wilkins; his four children; and two grandchildren. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Henry Lee Wilkins and Betty Jo Wilkins; his cherished sister, Katina Wilkins; five uncles, five aunts, and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jimmie and Annie B. Wilkins, and his maternal grandparents, Bobby Lee and Clodine Palmore.
Jeffrey’s life was marked by faith, love, service, and strength. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Psalms 23
"The Lord is my shepherd; 1 shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and 1 will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
MISS ME- BUT LET ME GO
When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in gloom- filled rooms, Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little- but not too long, And not with your head bowed low;
Remember the love that we all must take, And each must go alone,
It's all apart of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And busy your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me- but let me go.
