“Welcome back,” was always what Jerry said when anyone came into the room. God said to him on Friday. “Welcome Home.”
Following a three-year tour in the U.S. Army, Jerry graduated from L.S.U. with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had a storied career in Civil Service which included a 5-year accompanied tour on Okinawa.
Jerry never met a Stranger. He took pleasure in serving God and community. A few of the ways included "Mystery Nights" with teenagers in church, Habitat for Humanity, Optimist Club selling Christmas trees and running Soap Box Derbies, serving as a cook on a Guatemalan mission trip, and being on a "Taco Team" at church. He loved woodworking, making jelly, and volunteering as an Ambassador at the San Antonio International Airport, with enough hours to earn his Stetson.
In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by: his former wife, Nancy Jo Rhoades, and his son, “Little Jay.” He is survived by his wife, Susan Hetherington Lloyd, his children: Joseph D. Lloyd (Diana), Julie Lloyd-Atkinson (Doug), Jayson D. Lloyd (Denise), stepchildren: Joseph S. Rogers, III (Beth), Melissa E. Withaeger (Brian), 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and his faithful canine companion, Molly.
