Jerry Joseph Orsak passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas on August 27, 2021, at the age of 77 with his loving wife, Dorothy, by his side. He was born on September 9, 1943 to Julius and Lillian (Mocek) Orsak in Seymour, Texas.
After moving to San Antonio with his family, Jerry attended St. Margaret Mary Elementary School and graduated from St. Gerard’s High School. He attended San Antonio College pursuing architecture and drafting. Jerry served as an altar boy, boy scout, member of the Army National Guard of Texas, and later was an usher and eucharistic minister at St. Helena’s Catholic Church. Religion played an important role in Jerry’s life, and he enjoyed attending communion service and reading his daily devotions, often as a start and end to his day.
He worked as a part-time Catholic Life insurance agent, draftsman, roofing estimator, and later spent 25 years in commercial sales for Alamo Foam/Houston Foam, retiring in September 2017.
Jerry (Dad, Daddy, Papa, and Papa J.J.) was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family. He was an avid Spurs fan as well as an Aggies, Cowboys, and Longhorns football fan.
Some of Jerry’s happiest times were weekend family visits, birthday, and holiday celebrations, supporting his children and grandchildren over the years at their extracurricular activities, and family vacations to Red River, N.M., Disney World, D.C., the Texas coast, and time spent in the Texas Hill Country as well as other trips with his wife.
His family will remember his handsome smile and beautiful, bright eyes. Jerry always enjoyed a good conversation whether with his immediate or extended family, neighbors, or friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Dorothy, “Tuttie” of 50 years and children and spouses: Christie and Tye Pannkuk, Tressa and Michael Mann, and Nathan and Michelle Orsak; his grandchildren: Trent Pannkuk, Luke Pannkuk, Joseph Mann, Isaac Mann and Evelyn Orsak (Papa’s girl); sisters-in-law: Barbara Orsak, Josie Kellner (Herman), Elaine Meurer (Les); brothers-in-law: Danny Pehl (Jeanie), Dayton Pehl (Martha), Paul Pehl, Jr. (Randy), George Pehl (Norma), Dennis Pehl (Susan), Patrick Pehl (Jeraldine).
