Born on February 4, 1935, in Charlotte, Texas, Jesse's journey was marked by unwavering love for his family, dedication to his country, and a spirited enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures.
Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia Garza, who was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a family founded on the values of respect, joy, and togetherness. His legacy continues through his children, Johnny Garza (Martha), Jesse M. Garza (Patricia), Rick Blaylock (Gabriella), and Kathy Rodriguez (Joe), as well as the blessings of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his teachings and laughter.
A patriot at heart, Jesse served his country with distinction, first with three years in the U.S. Marine Corps, followed by a notable 34-year tenure with the U.S. Army National Guard. He retired with the respected rank of 1SG, 1BDE HHC, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and courage that inspired all who served alongside him.
Beyond his military accomplishments, Jesse nurtured a deep passion for the outdoors and community involvement. His love for golf saw him spending countless serene mornings on the green, relishing every shot and the camaraderie of fellow golfers. His connection with horses was a testament to his Texan roots and his appreciation for the beauty and spirit of these majestic creatures.
Jesse's dedication to community shone through his active participation as a life member of the stock show and the proud life member of 141. He contributed his time and energy to the Fiesta commission and NIOSA, embodying the festive spirit that defines San Antonio's vibrant culture. His efforts in these organizations reflected his belief in service, unity, and the importance of tradition.
Those who knew Jesse will remember him as a gentle soul with a passion that ignited the hearts of those around him. His sense of humor was a beacon of light, often bringing laughter and joy to any gathering. Jesse's ability to find humor in life's challenges was a gift that eased many burdens and brightened many days.
