

Born in 1936 in New York City, Jesse graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Industrial Management. After participating in ROTC in college, he joined the Air Force where he served for 20 years. He served as a Missile Combat Crew Commander and then after getting his Masters in Industrial Management from the University of North Dakota, worked as a Management Analyst/Comptroller, Accounting and Finance Officer, and Management Engineer. He served in Vietnam in 1970 to 1971.
After the war, he worked at home and at his job in computers and spent the last twenty years of his civilian business life in that field.
Over the course of his military career, he and his family lived in Wisconsin, New York, North Dakota, Arizona, Alaska, Virginia and South Carolina. After retirement from the service, the Greer family moved to Texas.
Jesse became a member of the Catholic Faith in 1963. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1970 and served as Grand Knight in two Counsels and Faithful Navigator in one assembly. In 1992, he received his Masters in Pastoral Leadership/Administration from St. Mary's and served as Deacon for Holy Spirit Catholic Church in San Antonio for 12 years.
Jesse enjoyed playing many sports, including rugby, badminton and catamaran sailing. He competed in the US Senior Olympics on both the national and San Antonio, Texas levels.
Jesse's defining characteristics were his smile, laugh and unique brand of dad jokes. Most of all, he always was looking for ways to help people and make their lives better. He loved seeing family and friends and never met a stranger.
Surviving to cherish his life are his wife of 54 years, Marian Greer, sister Laura Axene, daughters Stephanie Stradley, Jennifer Whidby, Michelle Greer, sons James Greer, Thomas Greer, Jeffrey Greer, and his nephew Mitchell Axene. He is also remembered by his grandchildren, Kindall Greer, Megan Benham, Chris, Genny and Joy Whidby, Eric and Katie Ogburn, Anna Greer, Zoe Costello, and Jackson and Jessica Stradley.
He is predeceased by his parents Jesse Greer and Jane Estes and his daughter, Deborah Greer-Costello.
