Jesse Jeremiah Medina, lovingly known as "El Grandpa," was born on November 19, 1967, in San Antonio, Texas, and passed away on May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those whose lives he touched so deeply. Jesse was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, respected businessman, and loyal friend. He shared 12 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Armandina Alamar Ortiz-Medina, and together they created a life full of adventure, laughter, music, family gatherings, and unconditional love.
A Master Electrician by trade, Jesse proudly owned and operated Jessco Electric and Lighting for many years. Through his work, he not only built a successful business but also earned the respect and appreciation of his community. Jesse truly enjoyed meeting new people and helping others, always carrying himself with kindness, generosity, and a willingness to lend a hand.
Outside of work, Jesse lived life passionately. Music was one of his greatest joys, and for many years he worked as a DJ, sharing his love for all genres of music with family, friends, and the community. He also loved cooking and was especially known for his unforgettable BBQs. Family and friends always looked forward to Jesse’s famous chicken, which brought everyone together around the table with laughter and love.
Above all, Jesse treasured his family. His greatest happiness came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved beyond measure. Whether visiting them, sharing stories, or simply enjoying their company, being “Grandpa” was one of the roles he cherished most. Jesse also loved the freedom of the open road. He enjoyed motorcycle rides with his wife and close friends, proudly dressed head-to-toe in Harley-Davidson gear while riding his cherished 2008 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle. Those rides brought him peace, brotherhood, and unforgettable memories.
Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Armandina Alamar Ortiz-Medina; his father, Dionisio Medina; his mother-in-law, Maria Magdalena Ortiz; his sons, Michael Jacob Riojas (Amanda) and Lorenzo A. Pena; and his daughters, Michelle Medina, Josefina A. Yguerabide (Jorge), and Lorena A. Rangel. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Virginia Medina (Albert); his four brothers, Julian Gutierrez, Johnny Gutierrez, Joe Gutierrez, and Dionisio Nick Medina; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Arcenio A. Ortiz (Wanda), Andrea L. Gaytan (Raul), and Angelica M. Ortiz (Ricardo). His legacy lives on through his 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and the countless friends he added to his list along the way.
Jesse is reunited in heaven with his mother, Gloria Guillen Medina, and his beloved youngest daughter, Jessica Sarah Medina, who was tragically taken at the young age of 16.
Jesse will be remembered for his huge heart, hardworking spirit, love for family, and the joy he brought wherever he went. His laughter, music, stories, and love will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
Though he may no longer ride beside us, his spirit will forever travel the roads of our hearts. May Jesse Jeremiah Medina rest in eternal peace.
