He was born to Sabino and Loretta Garcia on June 16th, 1948, in Seguin, Texas. Growing up with three brothers and four sisters, he was the youngest of the boys. At a very young age, he learned the value of hard work but always remained humble and cherished his time with his family. At the age of 19, he was drafted into the US ARMY and spent 12 months fighting in the Vietnam War. After his tour, he returned home and attended ST. Philips College. There, he learned to become a skilled upholstery craftsman. He then joined the Fort Sam Houston Commissary and was in charge of receiving and unloading the daily supply trucks. While working at Fort Sam, he served 11 years in the National Guard. For 15 years, he had a daytime job and a nighttime job to provide the best for his wife and children.
He loved supporting the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. You could catch him watching the game with family, cheering on his teams through thick and thin. His house was constantly filled with joy and laughter. There was always oldies music playing in the background or western movies/TV shows playing on his television. His favorite thing above all was tending to his children and grandchildren. He would teach his favorite game of dominoes to all who were interested. Loved playing poker and laughing when he won and shaking his head when he lost, which wasn’t very often.
