

Jesus Garcia Sanchez, age 103, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville, Texas, with his loving family at his side. Jesus the son of Fructuoso and Ramona (Garcia) Sanchez, was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 24, 1920. He served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army with the 2nd Infantry Division in the European Theater. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal and the French Legion of Honor Medal for his actions during the invasion of Normandy. Jesus also served in the Korean War and in Vietnam. He retired as a Sergeant First Class following a decorated 25-year Army career. After retirement, he worked as a security professional in San Antonio, Texas. Jesus was a member of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church.
Jesus was united in marriage to the former Adelina De Leon Molina in San Antonio, Texas on April 3, 1943. He is survived by their nine children, Richard, Jesse, Edward, Linda (David Trevino), Rebecca (Felipe Villarreal), Mona (Billy Huizar), Rachel, Anthony (Angela), and Vincent; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Jesus was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; six brothers and one sister.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm., Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
