Jim T McDonald

Our beloved, Jim “Granddad” McDonald, went to be with our Lord on July 21, 2023. He was born on April 26, 1932 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Tom Cash and Carryee Irene McDonald. He was the youngest brother to Joe, Doug, Donne and John Cash. Jim married his beautiful wife, June Boatright, on June 3, 1956, and they were happily married for over sixty years. He served our country as a corporal in the Korean War, and received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, OK. Jim worked in business development for Travelers Insurance Company, traveling across Texas recruiting insurance brokers.

Jim was a charter member of Northside Church of Christ, and served as a greeter for many years. He was still warmly greeting and welcoming new faces on Sundays at the age of 91. His warmth, humility, and sincere interest in others made him many people’s favorite person. Jim loved to travel, play tennis, listen to music, and to spend time with his precious grandchildren, family, and dear friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; his son, Lynn Cash; and by his brothers and sister.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Billingsley (Terry); his granddaughter, Cari Goudeau (Joel); his great grandchildren, Avery, Taylor, and Gavin; his nieces and nephews, Terry, Bart, Tonia, Jeff, Kathy, Jack, and Cynthia; his brother in law, Allan Boatright (Lissa); and by his sister in law, Geri Martin. Jim is also survived by many dear friends who were like family.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 12, 2023 beginning at 1:30 p.m. with a Service at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX, 78218. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Lynn Cash McDonald scholarship fund in c/o Northside Church of Christ, 19818 US Highway 281 N, San Antonio, TX 78258.
