Jo Turner Smith

Jo graduated from Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos in 1942. She married her college sweetheart, Reet Poe Smith on the day he graduated from flight school at Kelly Field. Together Jo and Poe embarked on a 30-year Air Force career that carried them all over the world, including assignments in Japan, Libya, Germany, as well as many regions of the United States.

Jo dedicated her life to her family and was an exceptional homemaker, fabulous hostess, loving wife and extraordinary Mom, Granny and GG.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Reet Poe Smith, USAF Ret in 1997; her parents and her brother, John Wesley Turner, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Kimmel and husband, Phil, of Eugene, Oregon and Cindy Elledge and husband, Ray, of Harlingen, Texas; grandchildren Leah Pearl and husband, Rocky Maselli, of Eugene, Oregon, Katya Pearl and husband, Justin Smith, of Portland, Oregon, Scott Elledge and wife Gracie, and Matthew Elledge of Harlingen, Texas; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Stella Maselli, Roma Smith, and Rheanne Elledge.
