

Joan Leonard Gardner, age 79, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 in San Antonio. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents, Frank L. and Mary (McCullough) Leonard. Joan lived her life with spirit, grace, humility, humor, and courage. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1952, and then graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Business Administration. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Joan spent most of her professional career with Friedrich Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Company as the head accountant. Joan was a member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church where she volunteered for more than 20 years. She maintained close friendships with her "Jeff Gals" from the class of 1952, and was an integral part of organizing their annual reunion getaway since 1985. Even though Joan had no children of her own, she was very proud of the children in her family. Joan valued faith, family, and friendships.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar W. Gardner, Jr. and her father, Frank L. Leonard. Joan is survived by her mother, Mary J. Leonard; sister, Babs Massey and husband, Chip Massey; brother, Chip Leonard and wife, Linda Leonard; nieces and nephews: Brent Massey and wife, Tresha; Paige Wolcott and husband, Chris; and Bryan Leonard.
