

At 12 years of age Joe Baucham accepted Christ in his life under the leadership of the late Pastor J.W. Hamilton in McCamey, TX
Throughout his life, Joe Baucham served in many roles as a member of the community and a citizen of the nation. After completing high school, Joe joined the United States Marine Corps. During his years of service in the military, he worked as an aircraft mechanic. Upon his return to Big Spring, TX he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in both Big Spring and the surrounding cities; and was appointed Second Lieutenant of the Texas State Guard Military Police Corps by the Governor of Texas.
Joe Baucham served his community as a faithful member of the Church of God in Christ Holiness-Pentecostal Christian denomination of churches. As a Big Spring resident, Joe Baucham served on the Deacon Board of Powerhouse Church of God in Christ under the late Superintendent Willie W. Weatherspoon in Big Spring, TX for over 30 years. As an active member of the church, Deacon Baucham faithfully worked on The Board of Trustees and served as a leader, mentor, and teacher for the Young People Willing Workers (YPWW). The Dallas & Lamesa, TX communities will remember him as a radio personality where he spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music to people in the greater West Texas area for several years. Afterwards, his career led him into the field of Retail, working as a Store Manager. This career moved him to Las Vegas Nevada, where he became a member of Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ under the late Bishop E.N. Web. He was, again, appointed to the office of Deacon, where he labored for 7 years in the church. At which time, he was recognized as the Ambassador of Courtesy by the president and executive Directors of Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
As Joe Baucham continued to serve his community, he made the decision to move back to Texas serving under the leadership of the late Bishop J. N. Haynes at Saintsville Church of God in Christ in Dallas, TX for 5 years. From there he moved to San Antonio, TX where he graduated from Bishop Iglehart’s School of Ministry, under the leadership of the late Elder Nathan L. Thompson at Thompson Chapel Church of God in Christ, receiving his Ministers License and Certificate of Ordination under the leadership of Elder Stephen Thompson upon Elder Nathan Thompson’s passing. As part of his ministry, Elder Baucham will be lovingly remembered for handing out gold prayer coins of his own money to people every time he had the opportunity (throughout the lifetime of his ministry).
After he retired from his job, Elder Baucham began attending a church (a little closer to home) under the leadership of Elder Samuel L. Gibson, Victory Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. During the Elder Joe Baucham preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the greater Texas Southwest Jurisdiction Churches of God in Christ until he fell ill in the later months of 2022.
On Friday, December 23, 2022, Elder Joe Baucham peacefully passed away surrounded by his family.
Proceeding him in death: his father IG Baucham June 1976, his mother Abbie (Turner) Baucham, October 1978. His niece Shelia Renea Albert (July 1985), and his nephew William Joseph Albert (February 1991)
He leaves to mourn and will be remembered by: his wife of 52 years, Alice (Perkins) Baucham, three daughters Cassandra C. Roseburrow (Nate), of Saint Hedwig, TX, Jaqueline Y. Baucham of Henderson, NV, Andrea V. Baucham of Las Vegas, NV, Honorary daughter Olivia Black (Bradley) of Addison, TX, Eight grandchildren, Seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Sam Baucham (Blanche) of San Antonio, TX, Roy Leon Baucham (Diana) of La Crescenta, CA, two sisters Lillian Powell (Wilton) of San Antonio, TX, Joyce Lowery (Cornell) of San Antonio, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
