

Joe Tucker, age 80, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 in San Antonio. He was born in Acmar, Alabama on February 25, 1941. He served in the Navy, where he specialized in maintaining jets on an aircraft carrier. As a civilian he worked at Fort Rucker on helicopters. In 1966 until retirement, Joe worked as an aircraft technician for American Airlines. He was honored with the GOLDEN WRENCH AWARD for outstanding service to American Airlines. Joe enjoyed playing golf in the company of his many wonderful friends. He never hesitated in helping others. Joe was a model husband, father, friend, and citizen. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Smallwood; daughter, Kelly Tucker; brother, Larry Tucker; and sisters, Dianna Maples and Gwen Hansen. Joe is survived by his wife, Nilsa Tucker; daughter, Elizabeth Howlett and her husband, Paul; brother, Michael Tucker; sisters, Elaine Beckstrom, Mary Lou De Waele, and Bonnie Harris. grandchildren, Brittany Drane, Houston Howlett; great grandchildren, Autumn Drane, Jaiden Drane, Skylar Drane, Aaron Drane, Emmalynn Drane and Hiram Howlett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
