I loved Joe like a brother. He and I were college roommates until I left San Antonio to Dallas in Sept. of 97' He was the smartest, kindest, and best friend I ever had in San Antonio. I thank God for having him be apart of my life. May you rest in peace my dear friend. God Bless

Joe has always had a very special place in my heart since he came into my life 11 years ago. He was caring, funny, extremely intelligent, witty, selfless, loving, a wonderful writer and a music aficionado. He taught me a lot about life even when he was just 18 and helped me through some difficult times. I learned a lot about myself and became a better person knowing him. He was such a beautiful person and had a gentle soul. I know he had a lot struggles through life and I hope he is at peace now. Unfortunately, I haven't kept in touch with Joe in a while and I shockingly came across this news on the internet as I was thinking about him on his birthday yesterday. Mr. & Mrs. Weiss, Alicia, Savannah, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family during this very difficult time. Joe, I will always cherish the memories we had together and you will always have a very special place in my heart. I know it was unconventional the way we met, but I'm happy we kept it going for as long as we could. Rest peacefully, Joey.

As I sit here and read these amazing and heart-felt memories of Joe, I can't thelp but realize what an impact he had on many, many people. I hope he has a chance to read these, because I don't think he even had a grasp on the positive thumbprint he has left in our hearts over the past 28 years. Joe was always quiet and reserved, but very intelligent...what a beautiful mind. Being the youngest cousin, I didn't get the chance to play with the others as much; when I was into toys and make-believe characters, the rest had moved on to trampolenes and fou-wheeling at family functions. Joe, however, had always taken time out to play with me-he always made me laugh with his goofy faces he would make and the jokes he would tell. Those are the fondest memories I have of him, and that's how I will remember him...eternally. I wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Although I did not know Joe very well, he always stuck me as a very intelligent and senstive young man. I will never forget my meeting Joe for the first time when he was visiting my father with Alicia. He must have been about nine at the time and was looking into his stock performace in the newspaper. I could not believe such a young kid was interested in the stock market! I have not seen Joe in a long time, but kept up with him through my sister-in-law, Alicia. I remember Joe being such a happy little guy, reading at a very early age. Using big words that his Aunt didn't even know the meaning of. Playing games at the dining room table and him rolling on the floor laughing. Swimming in the pool and taking the kodak moment picture of him and Alicia. His was so intelligent. He endured so much with his heart surgeries. He has taught me so much in this last week. 
I know Joe is at peace, we will always carry him in our hearts forever. He was a wonderful nephew, with a big heart.

Joe was such a special nephew to me. I would get the biggest kick out of his enthusiam, animated face, and shining chocolate M & M eyes when something excited him as a child. As he grew older, I was awe-struck by his intelligence and ability to analyze situations down to minute details. He was a master of words and chose each one carefully as we had in-depth conversations about religion, relationships, and even the nuances of Microsoft Excel. He and I had similar questions about life, and it gives me consolation to know that he finally has some answers. I will really miss our talks, his dry humor and quick wit, and his compassion for others. Now that some of his previously unanswered issues have been resolved, 
my guess is that he already has a hot date with a cute chick with a halo for Saturday night. You go, Joe! I'll catch you on the flip side. Love always,

Hanging out with Joe was always something I looked forward to when my family would travel on the road and visit my Aunt. He had an intensely analytical mind that I appreciated and like myself tended to internally question and piece together most things he encountered. He used them like we all do. To steadily build a picture of the world around him and see how everything connects and relates to everything else more clearly. It was great to watch a mirror of the same calm demeanor that would subtlely explode with blazing passion in persuing a line of logic. This often led to great conversations between us and a large degree of respect. When I found Genevieve and he came to visit we both enjoyed his company, wit, and imagination. We always had good times together, some just the three of us, some with other friends as well. Joe was born into a rough situation. Many things he wanted to do and experience he felt were out of reach. It left colors missing from his pallet despite his best efforts. I sincerely hope each and every one of those experiences are at his fingertips now so he can complete his picture and admire the details of his work. Someday I'll find out, and we'll probably have a great conversation about it.

My sincerest condolences to Joe's friends and family. I met him through my cousin and found him to be very intelligent & easy to talk to. Even though he was much younger than I was, I could make reference to old movies or TV shows & he would know exactly what I was referring to, & he was always genuinely interested in what everyone had to say. Me & my family will miss him at our little parties, but we will always remember him fondly and be happy that we got a chance to know him.

It was a great honor to be here in San Antonio and pay my last respects to the man I first knew as "Joey." Joe was an intelligent and caring person and I wish that I had the opportunity to know him longer than these past 16+ years. That may sound like a long time, but it was way too short. He was a great brother to his sister and a wonderful uncle to our daughter. His wit and sense of humor will be sorely missed... Rest easy, Bro-in-Law! Michael

Joe was always one to keep things interesting with a witty observation when we were together. I'll always remember the time we spent together in high school and college.

We wish to extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolonces to the Weiss family. We first met Joe through my niece Regina. Their friendship had brought him to our home on several family gatherings. We enjoyed his presence on birthdays and holidays. This past New Year we had the pleasure of celebrating with the two of them and the rest of our family. Joe seemed to always enjoy being around us as much as we enjoyed having him with us. He would always break into his gentle smile and soft voice as we sat and talked throughout the evening. We admired his loving and caring personality. We are happy to have met him and we will dearly miss him. The evening skies will now bear a bright new Star.
