Bob was a very proud American who honorably served his country in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. Following the War, he attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City.
In 1947, Bob began working in Sales for the Wabash Railroad (Norfolk Southern Railway) which took him to the Rio Grande Valley where he met the love of his life, Billie Maye Thompson of Harlingen, Texas. Bob's 41 year career with the railroad took him from Texas to Florida and Ohio before retiring to San Antonio.
Bob's greatest joy in life was his family. He also enjoyed traveling and his family's fondest memories were their vacations camping across the United States and Canada. During his retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time caring and nurturing his grandchildren. Bob was an active member in St. Mark's Parish including the Knights of Columbus. Bob and Billie were blessed with six children, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Cass. Bob is survived by his wife, Billie, sons Bob (Jan) and Bill (Rhonda), daughters Mary Briseo (Alex), Therese Meike (Bill), and Susan Mason (Pat Garcia). The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday, August 13 at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough.
