

John E. Conway, Jr., age 78, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. He was the first son born to John Conway, Sr. and Helen Coolman Conway in Omaha, Nebraska on December 18, 1943. Immediately after high school graduation he made the brave decision of serving his country and joined the United States Navy. While in the navy he served as a dental technician apprentice, and entered the US Navy reserves for an additional 6 years followed by a 2 year commitment to the Air Force National Guard, totaling 21 years of service. After the Navy he had various jobs until he landed in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired as an accredited real estate appraiser. Jack’s long-time hobby was his love of cars. In his retirement he traveled the States in style in his numerous Corvettes. He was a proud member of The American Legion- Alamo post 2. He will always be remembered for his generosity, big smile and his hardy, booming laugh. Jack touched many lives in numerous ways from his generosity to his charismatic personality that made everyone feel accepted. He had a happy life and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Helen Marie; and brother, Tim Conway. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Maria “Rosie” Conway. He leaves behind his two sons, Darby Conway and Caley Conway and his additional bonus sons and daughters, Mike and Kim Perales and Sharon and John Ketterling. Jack had 5 cherished grandchildren that include granddaughters, Isabel Conway and Alexandria “Ally” Conway and grandsons, Ethan Perales, Makai Perales, and Nakoa Perales. His extended family includes brother Bill Conway; brother Terry and wife, Cuca Conway; sister Peggy Conway; brother Denny and wife, Vicki Conway; sister Betty and husband, Mike Suter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
