

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth May Douglass; his, son Richard Aiken Douglass and parents, John Joel Douglass Jr. and Sarah Aiken Douglass.
He graduated from Paschal High School in Ft. Worth in 1941 and Texas A&M University in 1948 with a BS in Business. From 1942-1946, he served in the US Navy and participated in the landings at Guam and Okinawa. He retired from Winn's Inc. after 42 years.
He is survived by his loving family: sons, Dr. John H. Douglass and Michael G. Douglass; daughters-in-law, Eileen E. Douglass, Susan Douglass, and Carol Douglass; grandchildren, Jay Gootee, Brian Gootee, Saran Douglass Hoover, Kathryn Douglass, Andrea Douglass, Michael Douglass, Kim Douglass, and Scott Douglass; great- grandchildren, Alyson Gootee, Adam Gootee, Liam Hoover, and Zoe Gootee; sisters-in-law, Joann York and Nancy Rudderrow.
The epitome of a Southern gentleman, our father and grandfather was known for his kind and gentle bearing. He loved his Aggies.
Our family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to Lolita, Emma, Jackie, and Susie at Homewood Residence and to Sandy, Robert, Karen, and Peggy at Hospice Compassus as they lovingly cared for Daddio during this long good-bye. He is with MomO now. Praise God.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
