

Johnny was born in Brownsville, Texas to Juan and Juanita Garza on February 24, 1936. He worked as a longshoreman early in his life and often recalled memories of his many adventures. After some years, he began working as a carpet installer and continued this work throughout his life, spending most of his days at the family business. He enjoyed spending time fishing and at the beach with family. He loved listening and singing to his favorite mariachi music and dancing to his favorite songs. Most of all he cherished his time at the many family gatherings he was a part of.
He is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Juanita Garza; his wife, Socorro Garza; his brothers, Antonio Ayala, Joe Albert Garza and Porfirio Garza and his sister Domitila Bennett.
He is survived by his wife Guadalupe; his children Luis Garza (Idalia), Diane Slattery (Michael), John J Garza III (JoAnn), Maria Vela (Michael), Manuel Garza (Stephanie), Danny Garza (Thelma) and Michelle Vega (Reynaldo); his step-children Paul Romo (Vicky), Maria Garza (Danny), Henrietta Garza, Elaine Reynolds (Nathan) and Juan Romo (Jennifer); and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
