

John Kenny Halloran, age 85, passed away on October 8, 2006 after an eighteen-month battle against cancer.
He was born in Tampico, Mexico on Dec 16, 1920 and graduated from Jefferson High School, San Antonio in 1938. He received his Bachelors degree from Texas A & M College in 1947 and his Masters degree from Texas A & I, Kingsville in 1966.
"Red," as his family and friends knew him, served in the Merchant Marines during WWII as a radio operator in the Atlantic theater and at the end of the war was headed to the Pacific theater.
He worked for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission for 38 years, retiring as a Regional Director in San Antonio and then spent two years in Saipan as a consultant for rehabilitation services.
He recently was honored for his 50 years of service to the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and was devoted to his family and dogs. His wife, Helen Kennedy Halloran and his stepson, James D Barry, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his three daughters, Karen Halloran, Kathleen Halloran, and Helenan Polansky; his sister, Pauline Lombardy of Ft Walton Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Dwight, Jason and James Barry, Charles and Josh Polansky, Ty Halloran Volante and Mari Halloran Volante; and three great-grandchildren.
