

A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, he graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1961 with a B.S. in Industrial Management, and was a member of the U.T. basketball team and Sigma Chi fraternity. He remained an avid fan of Tennessee basketball and football throughout his life. Upon graduation from U.T., John served as an officer in the U.S. Navy until 1966. From then until his retirement John worked in the construction materials industry, retiring from Martin Marietta Materials as a Regional Vice President. John then devoted his extra time to the Boys and Girls Club in Boerne, Texas, where he served as Advisory Council Chairman. He was instrumental in raising funds through their annual golf tournament.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn; his son, Ron; his son, John and his wife, Sylvia and their children, Madison, and Sam; and his sister, Linda Graham and her husband, David. Well known for his sharp wit, John touched the lives and hearts of many people who will always remember him with love and laughter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
