If it seems a little quieter in Alamo Heights it is due to the passing on Wednesday, March 4 of Dr. John Huff, one of the most well-loved men in the Alamo Heights, medical and San Antonio communities.
You may not have known John personally but chances are you may have given him a bite off your plate at a restaurant or heard his loud booming voice as he warmly greeted friends and strangers alike. John lived his short life to the fullest, enjoying each and every day with his trademark boundless energy and enthusiasm.
When he wasn't trying to find ways to beat the South Texas game wardens, this Alamo Heights graduate could be found spending time fishing and hunting at Blue Wing, exercising at the San Antonio Country Club or spending time with those he loved. John's love extended to his profession and this dedicated anesthesiologist was adored by all who were fortunate enough to be in his operating room.
Doctors and patients alike requested this UTMB Galveston alumni for his jovial bedside manner, his commitment to their well-being and his often irreverent sense of humor. Every life John touched was forever changed. His sparkling blue eyes and mischevieous grin were contagious and his loyal group of best friends were as fiercely devoted to him as he was to them.
Every day with John was an adventure as you never knew what crazy schemes this prankster would conjure up. But as lighthearted as he was, there was one area of John's life in which he was totally serious and that was in his love for his beautiful wife Lisa, his four adoring children, and his precious godchildren of whom he was so proud. Generous to a fault, John would move heaven and earth for those he loved and causes he held dear.
John's absence will leave a gaping void in the lives of the people whose lives were made a little brighter, a little happier and a little more fun for having known him.
John was the beloved son of Mrs. James F. Huff and the late Dr. James F. Huff, the devoted husband of Mrs. Lisa Huff, the proud father of Miss Alexandrea Huff, Miss Megan Huff, Miss Madeline Huff and Master Jonathan Huff, loving brother of Foster Huff, Ms. Helen Huff Ruttenberg and Mrs. Glenda Roth. John is also survived by his nieces Juliana and Caroline; nephews Benjamin, Zane, Sammy, Bryce and Bourke. He also leaves his beloved friend and colleague Dr.Jesse Delee.
