John Norman Lance of San Antonio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on June 30, 1937, in Mills River, NC, to Robert Fred Lance and Ruby Lee Bishop Lance.
Also proceeding him in death was his wife of 58 years, Virginia Maxine Brooks Lance; brothers, Robert "Bob" Lance Jr., and Herman Lance; sisters Ada Mae Moore, Helen Capps, Barbara Jean Lance, Jane Patterson, and Suzanne Garcia. He is survived by his loving daughters Coletta Joy Ward and husband Robert "Bo" Ward of Horse Shoe, NC; Paula Lance of San Antonio. Also, grandsons Ben Kimzey (wife Emily) of Fletcher, NC; Michael Kimzey (wife Felicia) also of Fletcher, and Mark Ward of Horse Shoe, NC and numerous nieces and nephews throughout North and South Carolina, and many precious lifelong friends.
He was an Air Force veteran for 22 years, a licensed realtor for 41 years, a member and Deacon of The Hills Church in San Antonio for 48 years. He was a native of North Carolina, but a resident of San Antonio for almost 50 years.
The family is open to receive friends and loved ones during a memorial service on February 17, 2025, at The Hills Church at 2255 Horal, SATX, 78227, at 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., SATX, 78209 on March 3, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
