

After graduating from Trinity University and serving 2 active duty years in the Unites States Army in the cryptography division, John was a founding partner of Lange, Poteet & Co CPA firm in San Antonio and past President of the Texas Society of CPAs. John was a long-term member of Concordia Lutheran Church as well as proud San Antonian and fervent Aggie fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister in-law, Cora Poteet. John is survived by his former wife, Janie Poteet, children, Terrie Marquis and husband John and Brian A. Poteet, DVM and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Joshua Roberts, Jason Marquis, Corbin, Jillian, Carson, and Hudson Poteet; great-grandchildren, Payton, and Jack Roberts; brothers, Rev. Dr. Robert M. Poteet and wife Carol and Glenn L. Poteet; many nieces and nephews as well as a lifetime of friends.
