

John D. Starr, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in San Antonio. He was a Christian and had placed his trust in Jesus, and we know that he is now enjoying being in the presence of our Savior.
John was a proud American who served in the Navy during the Vietnam era. He was a devoted husband, great dad and wonderful grandpop. He was a hunting enthusiast, who took great pride teaching youth about hunting safely and ethically.
John was the owner/operator of Starr Sharpening & Lawn Mower Service for many years. He was a talented woodworker, great cook and expert storyteller.
He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Starr and mother, Agnes R. Starr. John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy E. Starr; daughter, Kara E. Starr; sons, Jake C. Starr and Don C. Starr and his wife Cassie; grandchildren: Case, Wyatt, Lexi, Landon and Garrett; brothers, David M. Starr and wife Eloise, and James C. Starr and wife Judy, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
